St. Mark's Church of England Primary School is situated on Avairy Road, Adjacent to St. Mark's church. It is a 1.5 entry school, with a 30 place nursery unit. It serves a wide community, including Roe Green, Worsley Village, Ellenbrook and other surrounding areas. The school currently feeds Walkden High school, as well as Canon Slade High School, Bolton Independent Schools, Manchester Grammar and Manchester High.

St Mark's is a succesful school, with many strengths, including its provision for sport and music, and has been recognised for the quality of education it provides. It had a very successful OFSTED inspection in 1999 and gained the DfES Schools' Achievement Award in 2000-2001 and 2001-2002. The school also holds the Sport England Activemark.

The school follows the National Curriculum. Religious Education is taught according to the Diocesan Board of Education Syllabus for Religious Education and Collective Worship. In addition, the school offers a wide range of activities and learning experiences to enhance this curriculum. These include football, netball, cross country, cricket, swimming, athletics, recorder playing, choir and chess. The pupils are encouraged to take an active part in the life of the school.

The school aims to serve its community by providing high quality educational provision within the context of Christian belief and practice. It encourages an understanding of the meaning and significance of faith and promotes Christian values, striving to preserve and develop its religious character in accordance with the principles of the Church of England and in partnership with the church at parish and diocesan level. The church clergy regularly conducts worship in the school and the whole school attends the church several times throughout the year.

The school is well supported by the church and by parents. It is fortunate to have a Fund Raising Association, which is made up of both parents and friends and meets regularly to plan both social and fund raising events. The association has successfully resourced the school for many years, providing a large amount of equipment to support the curriculum.
