St. Andrew's is a Church of England primary school which welcomes children from different religious and cultural backgrounds, and actively encourages the involvement of parents and members of the community in the life of the school.
The school is committed to the highest possible achievement on behalf of its children. In pursuing these aims our curriculum will consist of everything which is planned implemented and encouraged to promote the development of St. Andrew's children in prepapring them for the opportunites, experiences and responsibilities of life.
In realising these principles, St. Andrew's school is fully committed to the highest possible professional development of all its staff, regardless of status or role.
Statement of St. Andrew's aims and values
St. Andrew's school aims are embodied in the following broadly based statements and values which have been organised into three distinct categories: educational, personal and community values.
Educational values
The school aims to:
Deliver a broad and balanced curriculm which introduces children to a wide range of skills, knowledge and understanding
Enable children to maximise their potential and lead fullfilling lives and contribute meaningfully to society, both at present and in teh future
Provide for a child's emotional, physical, spiritual and intellectual development
Promote, encourage and support equal and challenging opportunities for all within a positive and stimulating environment
Ensure that the curriculum takes account of the needs of children with differing abilities
Enable children to make informed and positive decisions, adn be better able to adapt to change in their lives
Encourage self discipline, independent thinking and aesthetic sensitivity
Develop powers of oral, visual and written communication
Promote understanding and appreciation of our heritage, and a respect for the freedom, culture and beliefs of others
Foster a commitment to learning as a life-long activity
Create a secure, caring and supportive environment within a moral and spiritual framework

The school aims to:
Encourage self-esteem and self confidence
Develop the child's ability and drive to realise her/his own potential

Community values
The school aims to:
Enable children to appreciate that they belong to a variety of communities
Foster respect for the fair and democratic processes by which differences of opinion are resolved non-violently, and a respect for justice
Foster respect and care for ownership, property and the environment, and concern for those who are in need
Appreciate and gain understanding of "right" and "wrong", especially in relationship to the rights of others.
